BMP

The BMP is a light armored, amphibious, tracked armored personnel vehicle used by Warsaw Pact and other Third World countries.  It has a rather low profile chassis and a small centrally mounted turret.  There are two major types or variants: the standard APC which has a 73mm Rocket gun with a maximum effective range of 1300 meters.  It can also have a turret mounted Saggar Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) which has a maximum effective range of 3000 meters.  The other variant, the BMP M1981, has the same chassis configuration and turret, but has a 30mm Automatic Cannon.  It too can either use the Saggar or AT-4 Spandrel missile.

These pictures where taken of a Saudi Arabian National Guard BMP in a 'Hide' or 'Hull-down" position.  It is a defensive position allowing just the turret/weapon system to be visible to the enemy giving maximum cover and concealment to the vehicle and crew.
