I just came across your web site. Brings back many memories and I would love to share some stories with you. 
I was part of the first LAV unit (Steel's Wheel's) based at Camp Margarita and it was an incredible time. 
I was also an LAV instructor for a little while and had a great time on that assignment.
Anyway I will continue to look around the site and maybe can send some stories your way.

     Vehicle 521620 on its very first trip to the field. We got it stuck and being it was the first time an LAV 
ever got stuck on Camp Pendelton (outside of LAV School)
