Dave and I on an M1 Abrams Tank

M1 Abrams...
This is Dave and I sitting on an M1 Abrams tank of an armored CAV unit of the U.S. Army.  We ran into these guys while out in the desert and stopped to have a little show-and-tell session.

Some members of the Saudi Arabian National Gaurd

Saudi Arabian National Guard (S.A.N.G.)...
This is Dave and I posing with some members of the Saudi Arabian National Guard.  They were a crew of a BMP which was in a 'dug-in' position.  We dropped by and had another 'Show-and-Tell' session which turned out to be mainly sign language as there was a language barrier.

Christmas 1990

Merry Christmas.....
Christmas out in the desert is never an exciting time..... This was no exception. We spent Christmas morning sitting around a fire, eating "T-Rats" (Hot Chow) and basically missing home. I think even the strongest felt home sick that day, especially after someone decided to put a Christmas carol tape on their radio. We promptly fixed those feelings by putting on our flak jackets and starting a good 'ole game of full contact football....I am on the right holding my M-16 and my Gunner Jason L. sitting on the ground.

Me in British NBC Suit

NBC Exercise...
One of the results of facing the possibility of a Chemical/ Biological War was the constant drilling using our protective equipment. Here is a picture of me modeling a British protective suit for the Spring '91 "GQ"  Magazine.... We were issued these, as our suits where quite bulky in their storage bags. These suits came in small vacuum sealed bags taking about 1/4 the storage space of ours.

NBC Excercise, A-Gunner's seat

NBC...
This was taken during a 'Nuclear, Chemical, Biological Warfare' (NBC) exercise out in the desert.  This is my 'A-Gunner', Jason L. This is where he sits inside the LAV-AT.  It is this Marine's responsibility to help the Gunner 'boresight' (align) his sights and load missiles into the launcher.
