The latest updates to the site include:

  • A fix to the problem some where having accessing the member's area as the new password program I was using crapped out on me.  I have reverted back to the original program using the original password.

  • I have moved the 'old news' to an archive page which is accessible via the "News Archive' Button below.

  • I added a section on what I am doing for a living now-a-days.  The page or section is dedicated to the fire department I work for, with many cool links from it.  If you are interested in or are a firefighter, please check it out!  There is also a link to a fellow fire fighter I work with who is a patch trader, check out his site!  You can find a link to this area of the site on the 'Quick Link' below, or on the main navigational bar under 'Site Information'.

Added a section today, 3 pages long with photo's depicting the destruction we caused on the Iraqi Army.  These are mostly destroyed armor.  You can find it on the navigation menu under Destroyed Iraqi Armor, I call the pages Unlucky Iraqis.  If anyone thinks these of bad taste, let me know......  :)

I have added some 'Spit 'n' Polish to the site in the last day or so.  The biggest addition is the new Site Map.  It works with IE 4.x or better, using smart Java Script.  There is an explanation on the page.

It is official, the domain URL is http://www.1ofthefew.com.
I have randomly placed "pop-up' script on several of the pages to remind and prompt you to vote, so please give me a Click/Vote!   Currently it will 'pop-up' when ever you load the page, but after a few weeks, I will program it to only do it once/day.  I have also redone the Graphics section, sorting through the graphics and trying to keep the pages down to about 1 min/56k modem/page.  Also separated the Animated from static images.  These are public domain so feel free to use them.  I also added some information on USMC Ribbons and Devices and the long-awaited LAV III.

Ok, it seems that most of us have made the transition to the new site well.  I am happy with the results of the rebuild and it seems that everyone that has commented has agreed.  I have listed the site on www.thefew.com for the top USMC sites.  In order to climb the  ratings, whenever you see the button in this message throughout the site, please click on it. The more clicks, the higher we climb and the better the site ratings go.  You are allowed 1 vote/hour, so please click once a day if you would.   Let's get this site to the top of the list.  You can view the list  and watch our progress.

Welcome to our new home.  After the recent problem with Tripod.com, the site has been reinstated and they have admitted to being at fault.  I have decided to stay with Tripod as they are the only Free Hosting Service that I have found will allow up to 50Mb.  The site is already 26Mb and growing, so for the time being, we stay.  You will however notice that I have changed the URL and therefore ask you to PLEASE UPDATE YOUR BOOKMARKS!! using the button above!  I have also broken some of the content up to try and keep each page fast loading.  I am trying to keep the pages loading in about 60-90 seconds on a 56k Modem, for those who are still on a dial-up connection.

Thanks to those who have visited and commented either via email or the message board in the members area.  I have added a page of pictures of the burning oil field fires as well as I had the opportunity to borrow a digital camera, one of these SONY MVC-FD85 <-Click to check it out!.  Anyways, I took some still images of some of the Souvenirs I took home with me from the Gulf.  I also updated the members list as well as added a few bio's.  So stop by and check it out.

10 years ago, in the middle of the night, many young men were preparing to meet an enemy they had been training to kill for many months.  This would be the first time in combat for so many of us.  This battle would remain in our minds for many years and drive home the reality of what we were doing in the middle east.  We would fight hard, and we would win, but not without a price.  That night we would lose some of our brothers, some of our friends, and that would haunt us for the rest of our lives.....  May they rest in peace, I. Cotto, D. Snyder, D. Walker, S. Schroeder and let us never forget.
