Connecting to the Internet with your PDA using your Cellular Phone

Main  |  My Tungsten 2 Accessories  |  Software I keep on my Palm Tungsten 2  |  Connecting to the Internet via Modem or other landline  |  Connecting to the internet via Cellular -Infrared  |  Connecting my TT2 to my Motorola T720 and more Bluetooth Information  |    Connecting to Internet via Bluetooth LAN  |  Back to '1 of the few'

You can also use your cellular phone.  If you have an older CDMA phone like the Nokia 3360, you can connect via the Infrared port.  This connection is limited to 9600 baud.  It is a little slow for browsing but ok for email. Call your provider to ensure that your account is set up for Data.  In British Columbia, I use Roger's AT&T, you have to make sure your account is up for 'Portage' which is the data side of the system.

Line up the IR ports...

Activate the IR on the Nokia 3360 and from the Network settings, tap CONNECT.  See here for setting up the connections using the Nokia or other IR capable phone.

There, all connected and browsing.  Note the "Data call" message on phone.
